Tom Bromwich in his capacity as Chairman of the Get-A-Head Charitable Trust has received a cheque on behalf of the charity for £3,000 from Warwick School, which was raised following a tremendous effort by pupils taking part in a ‘sponsored swimathon’.
The cheque was presented to Tom Bromwich and fellow trustee Paul Mourton a partner at Lodders Solicitors by ex Coventry City and Aston Villa player and one time England international, Dion Dublin, who has close links to both the school and the charity.
The funds were raised by pupils taking part in a five kilometre individual swim in Warwick School swimming pool, which was no mean feat, by some of the pupils aged only 9 and 10!
The event was organised by Peter Nield Head of Swimming at the school with the full support of the Head Master Mr Halse and forms part of the partnership forged between the charity and Warwick School over the last academic year.
Other events have included an innovative ‘big breakfast’ and medical seminars taking place at the school.
The funds raised are vital for ensuring that the work of the charity continues through funding research, equipment and education.
Tom Bromwich comments, “We are delighted with the partnership we have forged with Warwick School and this huge amount of money raised through the swimathon is fantastic. 25 pupils completed the 200 lengths in one go with many more taking part and enjoying the day. Our thanks go to Warwick School for supporting us in this way”.
